The Dinosaur Museum’s Clean Energy Efficient Solar Project

The Dinosaur Museum is a non-profit public organization, that has served the community as an important educational and tourist institution for almost 30 years, since its opening to the public in 1995.

Since its opening to the public in 1995, the Dinosaur Museum has served the San Juan County community as an important educational and tourist institution for 28 years.

With the support of the San Juan County Clean Energy Foundation, the museum has installed an efficient solar power system with the goal of becoming energy self-sufficient.

Due to not having adequate heating and cooling capabilities, the museum has only been able to open for six months of the year. The provision of a self-sufficient clean energy supply is a major step forward for the Museum in being able to stay open annually and serve a greater public audience.

The new solar system will produce all the museum’s electrical needs as part of its two-phase program towards total energy independence. Now that the first phase of the solar project is complete, the second phase will involve the installation of an HVAC system that runs on the renewable power source.
